IFUGAO STATE U-LAGAWE STUDENTS ORGANIZE COMMUNITY PANTRY

/ 2 June 2021

THE SUPREME Student Government of the Ifugao State University Lagawe campus initiated a student pantry to help their peers who are in need.

IFSU said on Facebook that the initiative stemmed from their observation that a lot of students and their families are struggling.

The USSG partnered with The Vocational Leaders of the Philippines College Chapter to set up the pantry.

“With the blended learning that our campus has adopted for the delivery of instruction, many students from far places who could not access Internet connectivity in their localities opted to come to Lagawe and rent rooms and with the implementation of MECQ in our locality, these students are encountering hardships in accessing basic needs from their families,” USSG President Renee Licyayo said.

“[For] this reason, we in the USSG/VLPCC planned and organized a student pantry to give assistance and help augment their needs. We were able to raise funds through solicitation and donations coming from our generous donors,” he added.

Students and their families can get vegetables, rice, canned goods, instant food from the pantry. Students can also get load for their online needs.
