FIRST TERM CLASSES @ DLSU STARTS OCTOBER 19

/ 29 August 2020

THE DE LA Salle University has announced that classes for Term 1 of the academic year 2020-2021 will begin on October 19, 2020.

The university will follow the original plan of the previous term in the academic year 2019-2020 which involves pure online class for several weeks and in-person class for two weeks if conditions allow.

Citing the memorandum by the Vice Chancellor for Academics, the DLSU said “pure online classes shall be held on weeks 1 to 9, and weeks 11 and 12, the hybrid classes will have online sessions from weeks 1 to 9, and predominantly in-person classes will be held on weeks 10 and 13, daily from Mondays to Thursdays.”

“Students of RVR COB, CLA, and SOE shall have face-to-face classes on week 11, and return to online classes on week 12. Similarly, students of BAG, CED, CCS, COS, and JCGE shall continue with online classes on week 11, and shall have face-to-face classes on week 12,” the memorandum read.

DLSU said there will be no due dates or exams in both online and hybrid classes, and independent online learning will be implemented on weeks 10 and 13.

DLSU also said if the government will not allow residential learning in January, online classes will push through in place of face-to-face classes in weeks 11 and 12.

The university, however, reiterated that if the government will allow residential learning in December this year, a second enrollment will be held for Term 1 and face-to-face classes shall be offered.

“If conditions are not favorable by December, Type A classes (online) on a compressed schedule (weeks 10 and 13) may be offered in place of Type C classes (in-person). Week 14 shall be the finals week,” the memorandum read.

Practicum courses and activities including field work, on the other hand, will be recalibrated and faculty members must provide alternative activities online as deployment in external institutions/fields shall remain suspended for the entire Term 1 of academic year 2020-2021.
