“DON’T BUY GADGETS YOU CANNOT AFFORD”

/ 17 September 2021

THE OCCIDENTAL Mindoro State College reiterated its call on students that they do not have to buy gadgets to continue their learning.

The school said that students can opt for modular learning if they cannot afford online modalities.

In a statement, it said that students can choose the learning modality which is best suited for them.

The school issued the statement after a video of a teacher demanding students to buy laptops or gadgets to continue their learning circulated online.

The teacher said that students who cannot afford to buy gadgets should just drop out.

“It should be noted that students are not forced or coerced to buy gadgets if they cannot afford to do so. The College has the capacity to reproduce and distribute modules free of charge and encourage students to use the said modality,” OMSC said on Facebook.

“Students are advised to report to their Program Heads any concerns that they may have relative to the learning modality they are currently engaging with. The Office of the VPAA is always open and ready to act on matters ensuring that Flexible Learning Scheme is religiously followed,” it added.
