DLSU-D STUDENT WINS DON ISABELO DELOS REYES ESSAY PRIZE
A STUDENT from the De La Salle University Dasmariñas was awarded the Don Isabelo Delos Reyes Essay Prize in Filipino Philosophy.
Jafflyn Joyce Nibay, an AB Philosophy student, was recognized for her paper “On Philippine Politics: The Iron-Fist and the Argument of Utilitarianism.”
She received the award during the Union of Societies and Associations of Philosophy in the Philippines’ 3rd Biennial Summit held at the Saint Louis University in Baguio City earlier this month.
“This is a great achievement for Ms. Jafflyn Nibay since the award is given only to those who can produce high-quality academic papers. This is undeniable proof that her grasp of philosophy is also something she can effectively communicate in written form,” Evelyn Perez, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Communication, said.
“We are so proud of Jafflyn and we know that this is just the beginning of her many future achievements,” she added.
Given by the estate of Don Isabelo de los Reyes through the Philosophical Association of the Philippines, the award aims to encourage senior undergraduate students, as well as beginning master’s students, to produce high-quality academic papers in philosophy and other allied disciplines.
