DLSU-D SHS TO OFFER ELECTIVES ON TAYLOR SWIFT, SPONGEBOB
THE De La Salle University-Dasmarinas Senior High School will offer three-unit elective courses about Taylor Swift, Spongebob, cycling, Kpop, and cats, in a bid to help students with choosing their electives.
According to DLSU-D SHS on Facebook, these courses are fitted to cater to students’ interests or their preferred college degrees, which can be credited when they enroll in college through its ‘Uplinked Elective.’
These are introductory classes of different courses offered at DLSU-D, which will help lessen the academic workload of students from the university.
The particular elective that gained the attention of netizens across social media was on global pop icon and musician, Taylor Swift.
DLSU-D’s announcement was just made days after the University of the Philippines announced that they will offer a course about Swift, under its Broadcast Communication program, which will focus on dissecting the artist through the lens of communication.
DLSU-D will be the second university in the Philippines to offer a course about Swfit, which, on the other hand, will offer the course through a music program.
Courses about Swift are nothing new as schools like Stanford University, New York University, and Harvard, among others, have also offered courses about the artist.
The Philippines has been one of Swift’s biggest markets. In 2022, Quezon City ranked as one of the artists’ top listeners at no. 5 behind cities like London, New York, Sydney, and Melbourne.
