DLS-CSB CONVERTS FACILITIES INTO COVID19 ISOLATION WARDS

/ 23 April 2021

THE DE LA SALLE-College of St. Benilde can now admit mild to moderate Covid19 cases after signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Red Cross and the city government of Manila.

The Red Cross converted DLS-CSB’s unused classrooms into a 135-bed isolation facility.

“This is a very strong signal. Napakalaking hudyat nito na dapat sundan natin ang mga lider ng mga eskwelahang ito na sila mismo ay kumikilos na dapat lahat ay magsama-sama tayo, ke kalaban, ke kakampi buhatin natin ang problema,” PRC Chairman and Senator Richard Gordon said.

Facility Manager Angelo Tan said that patients will be admitted through their local Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, which will get in touch with PRC and the university.

The PRC will then make the proper arrangement with the DLSU-CSB.

“Bale lahat ng ire-refer or dadalhin sa Benilde kailangang dumaan muna sa CESO. From CESO iko-cordinate po sa amin and iinform ‘yung team natin and we will inform doctors and nurses na ike-cater natin ngayong araw na ito,” Tan said.

Gordon said that the service may be availed of by Covid19 asymptomatic patients for free.

“The PRC has equipped the isolation facility with beds, blankets, pillows, bed covers, and stand fans. Each patient that will be admitted to the isolation facility will receive a quarantine kit that contains essential items that may be used for seven to 14 days of isolation,” Gordon said.

Meanwhile, Brother Raymundo Suplido, DLSU president, offered its 25-room off-campus dormitory to accommodate frontliners of the Philippine General Hospital.

Other universities in Metro Manila that have converted their facilities into isolation areas include Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson University and the University of the Philippines.
