CITY OF MALABON U APPEALS TO CHED TO REINSTATE FREE EDUCATION
THE CITY of Malabon University appealed to the Commission on Higher Education to grant the school the benefits of the free education law.
The CMU was taken off the list for its failure to submit the necessary documents to qualify for free education on time.
Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, also the CMU Board of Regents chairperson, said that 6,000 students were affected by the delisting of the university.
She asked CHED to give them six months to comply with the documents needed for its Institutional Recognition for free education.
“Right now we already have [a] task force to work in different areas for compliance. Most respectfully we would like to manifest…that we do not intend to be remiss of our equally complementary role,” Sandoval said.
The university also assured students that they will continue to receive financial support from the Unified Financial Assistance System for Academic Year 2022-2023.
