CATSU DENIES CHARGING P100 FOR BUS RIDE

/ 12 February 2024

THE CATANDUANES State University denied charging P100 for fare to ride its bus, noting that this information circulating across social media platforms is fake.

CatSU said that its bus plying the northern part of Catanduanes is not charging for fares as the university is not entitled to use the buses for commercial purposes.

“CatSU is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and service to our community. We do not operate any public transportation services, including buses, nor do we engage in any commercial activities of this nature,” the university said on its Facebook page.

“We urge the public to exercise caution and verify information from credible sources before sharing or believing such posts. CatSU remains dedicated to serving our students, faculty, staff, and the community with honesty, transparency, and professionalism,” it added.

University President Dr. Patrick Azanza posted on his Facebook page that four buses of CatSU were registered with the Land Transportation Office earlier this month.

Azanza said students can ride the bus for free, which will be used in CatSU’s Virac and Panganiban campuses.

He also said that the buses will not be a competition to local ride services, as they will solely be used for university purposes.
