THE BULACAN State University conferred on Senator Joel Villanueva a Doctor of Laws Degree Honoris Causa on Thursday, January 12.

Villanueva was the first recipient of the honorary degree from the university’s College of Law.

BulSU said that Villanueva deserved the award because of his significant contribution to the university and the province of Bulacan.

The senator is also a member of the BulSU Board of Regents.

“Hindi ko po talaga kayang hindian ang [BulSU] at siguro ngayong araw na ito ay hindi lang mahal, kung hindi mahal na mahal ko na ang Bulacan State University,” Villanueva said in his acceptance speech.

An academic gown, hood, and diploma were given to Villanueva for him to wear to signify his new credential.

The senator also received the Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa from the Polytechnic Univerity of the Philippines in 2013.
