ANTIQUE SCHOOL TO BE RELOCATED
THE SALAZAR Elementary School in Barangay Funda-Dalipe in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique will be relocated to give way to the expansion of the Antique Airport, an official of the Department of Education said.
“Mayor Elmer Untaran has already informed us that they have found a new site for the relocation of the SES still within the barangay,” DepEd Schools Division of Antique Engineer Rex Galero said.
He said that the school will remain in the same barangay.
The SES occupies a 3,500 square meter space close to the airport runway.
The Department of Transportation and the local government unit are working together to plan the move, Galero added.
The P500 million budget allocated for the renovation of the airport includes funds for the construction of the school.
“The Antique Airport, as of now, is only 1,300 meters wide,” Aviation Authority of the Philippines Manager Juanito Tanchico Jr. said.
He added that the runway has to be widened to at least 1,980 meters to accommodate an airbus.
