ADMU CREATES LOW-COST MOBILE CLOUD PLATFORM
THE ATENEO De Manila University has developed a mobile cloud platform for its community.
The Ateneo Innovation Center mobile cloud will be used to store learning resources.
“Through the mobile cloud they can teach the students with the lesson plans and resources stored in it. They can also download streaming media and be used by students and teachers, and they can communicate with each other and conduct tests there,” Ateneo professor and National Academy of Science and Technology academician Dr. Fabian Dayrit said.
He emphasized that that this technology can be used in schools and communities particularly in remote and disaster-stricken areas.
The cloud platform can be tapped for a very reasonable cost.
For less than P10,000, a complete year’s worth of reading, content, and videos can be stored and cached locally on the cloud.
“It is an affordable technology that could be used in schools and communities. One implementation of the mobile cloud could be as a digital library for remote learning, especially for homes with slow or no internet connection,” Dayrit said.
