FOUR Bachelor of Science in Biology students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines received a scholarship grant from the Microbiology Consortium of the Philippine Society of Microbiology Inc.

The scholarship was launched in 2018 to assist underprivileged microbiology students. Select students will receive a one-time cash aid of P5,000.

PSM helps institutions of higher learning in meeting challenges and promoting excellence in the field of Microbiology.

“Out of almost 100 applicants nationwide, 3rd year BS Biology students named Ma. Melanie Dalaine D. Carnaje, Francis Mary Benedict E. Mariano, Jubelita B. Poche, and Jon Dave T. Rebenque were included in the overall 20 grantees for the fiscal year 2020-2021,” PUP said in a Facebook post.

Carnaje said the scholarship will help her continue her education amid the pandemic.

“Sobrang makatutulong po ang one-time scholarship na ito sa aking online studies lalo na sa pagpapaayos ko po ng laptop at sa iba pa pong expenses na need ko for studying. Makakatulong po ito sa successfully ko pong pagtatapos ng pag-aaral,” she said.
