The University of the Philippines’ Department of Journalism invites undergraduate students to submit entries to the Philippine Journalism Research Conference 2021.

For this year’s event, it was co-organized by the University of Santo Tomas, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication.

The research conference is in line with UP journalism department’s commitment to contribute to journalism scholarship, being the Center of Excellence for Journalism of the Commission on Higher Education.

The PJRC was set to begin on May 7-8, 2021 via online platform.

The best research papers and journalistic output will receive the Chit Estella  Memorial Awards for Journalism to be given by the family of the late Prof.  Chit Estella-Simbulan and Vera Files, a news media non-profit devoted to in-depth reporting.

Simbulan was a faculty member of the UP Department of Journalism and was a trustee of Vera files.

On its ninth year, the research conference assures the student presenters of well-informed and supportive feedback for their papers and journalistic output.

Members of the panel will come from a variety of expertise in teaching and practice of journalism.
