TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY EDUCATION SUMMIT TACKLES SKILLS GAP, LAUNCHES EDUCATION ALLIANCE

6 September 2025

THE TOURISM & Hospitality Education Summit, set for September 10, 2025 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, will gather government leaders, industry stakeholders, educators, and students to address skills gaps and outdated curricula identified by the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), through discussions on aligning academic training with industry demands.

To respond to these challenges, the summit will feature in-depth discussions on bridging the gap between academic training and enterprise requirements.

Key sessions will cover the future of work, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the rising importance of micro-credentials, and strategies to prepare students for an Industry 5.0-ready workforce. Insights will also be shared by leaders from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), as well as major industry associations such as the Philippine Association of Convention/Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers, Inc. (PACEOS) and the Association of Administrators in Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institutions (AAHRMEI).

Beyond discussions, the summit will also launch the Tourism Education Network or Alliance, a collaborative body aimed at driving curriculum innovation, enhancing professional development, and shaping evidence-based policies that directly address industry needs. The alliance is envisioned to strengthen workforce readiness and ensure the long-term sustainability of the tourism and hospitality sectors.

The Tourism and Hospitality Education Summit will be co-located with the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF). Registration is currently open through the official form: https://forms.gle/RJAgkaAvM4i4MKqB9
