“We’re in no rush to revisit the said judgment. Status quo,” Saguisag shared in a recent talk on Saturday.

The UAAP condemned former head coach Aldin Ayo with an indefinite ban but the Sorsogon-born mentor recently raised an appeal to the Board of Trustees.

It has been more than two months since the issue had happened which led Ayo and the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA) director Fr. Jannel Abogado, OP to renounce their position.

The impact of the issue also made eight key players depart from what has been a strong UST squad.

Saguisag points out that the league still awaits separate investigations from the national government agencies which remain pending. 

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) are the agencies involved in the probe of the said case.

The report from the provincial government of Sorsogon and the city police had lately presented Ayo ‘clean’ with no violation to what has been called a “special personal development farm training program” and stated as a purely voluntary activity.

Hence, the UAAP will have to wait for the presentation of further investigations on both parties before considering the appeal of Ayo.

Also, with UAAP planning out when the competitions will occur, this will hinder the collegiate league to prioritize the case but assured that once the pertinent facts have been presented, UAAP will tackle the said issue.

“As of now, we have initial findings on the case of coach Ayo and UST. Some government agencies have also taken cognizance of the case,” Atty. Saguisag said. 

“Out of prudence and symmetry, the Board deemed it best, and since tutal wala namang urgency to act on the issue and para di rin kami conflicting, that we await those findings so we can also align,” he continued.
