“If the right time comes, but right now, I’m taking it one step at a time and thinking of my appeal first,” said the decorated mentor during an interview at Radio5’s Power and Play hosted by Noli Eala, Saturday.

Coach Ayo filed an appeal for a reconsideration of the indefinite ban decision of UAAP which was endorsed by UST after a report from the provincial government of Sorsogon said that Ayo did not violate any quarantine protocols.

“It was very unfortunate for us…binuo namin yung team na yun and we sacrificed a lot, maraming nag-invest sa mga players. Pero things happened eh. Wala ka namang masisisi,” Ayo propounded.

The Sorsogon-mentor pinpointed that he was aware of the protocol of the national government and made it clear that everything was done right, stressing that the team was there to do farming and not training.

Where out of 30 players in UST only 17 went with him and affirmed that those players went to Sorsogon voluntarily.

“I’m confident I didn’t violate any protocols,” Ayo added. 

Moreover, Ayo shared his dismay for the multiple exits of his players in the España-based squad. Nonetheless, though they’re no longer in one team in UST, he will always root for them wherever they go.

“Ako, nakikiusap ako na we should understand the players also. They’re still my players although nasa ibang teams na sila. Pero, I became their coach and sa akin, gusto kong maging success ko sila. I wish them luck,” he said. 

On the other hand, Ayo shared that what happened in the past months were challenging times for him likewise for his family as it tests their resiliency.

To which he is thankful for the opportunity given to him as head coach of the Chooks-to-Go team consisting of Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Troy Rike, and Santi Santillan.

“Things happen for a reason right. Because of what happened, it led me to this opportunity,” Ayo averred.
