THE CITY of Malabon University (CMU) is now officially included in the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) list, expanding access to free higher education and other government education assistance programs for qualified students.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval announced the development, describing it as a major milestone for the city’s students and their families.

Sandoval said the city government worked to address various issues and requirements at the university to ensure that CMU students would have access to quality and affordable higher education.

The mayor also said CMU recently secured its first-ever institutional recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in its 33-year history, paving the way for the restoration of its eligibility under UniFAST.

She acknowledged that the university continues to face challenges but said these would not deter the city from pursuing further improvements for CMU and its students.

Sandoval vowed to continue strengthening the university so more young Malabueños can pursue higher education, complete their studies, and gain better opportunities for the future.

“Malayo na ang ating narating, pero marami pa tayong gustong maabot para sa CMU,” Sandoval said.

The mayor said the city government will continue working to make CMU a stronger institution and expand educational opportunities for students in Malabon.
