THE CITY  government of Makati, the Department of Education-Makati School Division and Teach for the Philippines Incorporated signed a memorandum of agreement establishing a teaching fellowship program in the city.

The agreement, signed virtually, will have a P3.28 million budget and will run from 2020 to 2022 in three public schools in the city.

For the project, TFP Inc. chose six college graduates to become fellows tasked to teach at the chosen partner schools.

TFP Inc. would also provide access to various resources including sample lesson plans, assessments, grade tracking systems and instructional materials.

Meanwhile, Makati Schools division, in coordination with school principals, will supervise the fellows and collaborate with TFP to support an interactive platform designed to develop critical and analytical thinking skills.

The Makati City government will cover the cost of the training and allowances of the teacher-fellows for two years, including the summer term.

The city government hopes the program would establish a training ground for teachers and non-education majors to become successful and transformational educators.

“The City of Makati is proud to be a part of this meaningful collaboration with the prime movers of quality public education in the country,” Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said.

“As we shift to remote learning in the new normal, multi-stakeholder collaboration is crucial to addressing the many impediments to our envisioned quality education for all,” Binay added.

The six chosen fellows will be divided into groups of two and will be assigned to each of the three selected public elementary schools namely La Paz Elementary School, Maximo Estrella Elementary School and Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School.

Based on the MOA, each fellow will teach for a maximum of six hours a day under the supervision of the school principal.
