BATANG PINOY: SANTOR’S TWO GOLDS HELP MANILA RETAKE LEAD OVER BAGUIO

30 October 2025

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The City of Manila’s Patricia Mae Santor captured her sixth swimming medal on Wednesday to help her delegation stay within striking distance of the overall title in the 2025 Batang Pinoy National Championships here.

Santor, a University of Santo Tomas student, added to her already stellar medal haul by ruling the girls’ 16–17 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:23.37 — nearly 11 seconds ahead of Ormoc City’s Denise Mariae Estrera and 12 seconds clear of teammate Sinagtala Cuevas.

The swimmers from Manila also clocked the fastest time in the 4×50-meter freestyle relay, as Santor teamed up with Kristine Jane Uy, Eliana Isabel Rodriguez, and Jamie Aica Summer Sy to post 1:55.42 — a new meet record in the event organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The UST Junior Tigershark earlier struck gold in the girls’ 12–17 200-meter individual medley, as well as in the girls’ 16–17 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly events. Santor also took silver in the girls’ 200-meter breaststroke.

“It was really hard for me kasi, kasi medyo cramped ang schedule ko, there were times that I wasn’t able to train because of academics, I had to study for exams, marami pong requirements,” recalled Santor of her preparations.

“It’s my last year, but I believe that I did my best, and all that’s what all that matters to me.”

As of 5 p.m., Manila led the partial and unofficial tally with 19 gold, 16 silver, and 14 bronze medals for a total of 49.

Baguio City followed with an 18-12-16 haul (46 total); defending champion Pasig City was third with 16-12-19 (47 total); Quezon City placed fourth with 15-16-16 (47 total); and Zamboanga City was fifth with 11-7-3 (21 total).

Meanwhile, jiu-jitsu standout Charlie Ratcliff of Quezon City secured a gold and a bronze in her respective events.

Ratcliff flew straight to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines after winning gold in the girls’ mixed martial arts event at the 2025 Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Bahrain.

The Australian-Negrense captured gold in the juvenile girls’ gi 16–17 48-kilogram division on Tuesday and took bronze in the juvenile girls’ no gi 16–17 48-kg category after submitting Makati City’s Denicah Louise Untalan in just 36 seconds.

Cebu City’s Ien Dabon also bagged gold in the same tournament, submitting Pasig City’s Rafaella Isabel Sumera in the championship match.

Her brother, AYG silver medalist Travis, likewise won gold in the juvenile boys’ gi 16–17 event on Tuesday by submitting Quezon City’s Lucas Quizon in the final, while Antipolo City’s Jean-Luc Ledda settled for bronze.
