UP CEBU STUDENTS WIN AT AI.DEAS FOR IMPACT 2025
COMPUTER Science students from the University of the Philippines Cebu emerged as champions and received the Most Promising Prototype Award at the AI.DEAS for Impact 2025 regional hackathon, recently held in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The team—composed of Joanalyn V. Cadampog, Berk Stephen C. Cutamora, Rhanzel B. Eroja, Jezreel Chad G. Lumbab, and Aera Gabrelle E. Vitorillo—developed “Aegis,” an artificial intelligence-powered health data platform designed to assess and manage community health risks.
Targeting dengue cases in Cebu City barangays, the Aegis platform generates a Vulnerability Score that consolidates relevant data and recommends targeted interventions for individuals and health facilities. By transforming complex data into actionable insights, the system enhances coordination among hospitals, local governments, and community leaders in tackling public health challenges.
The AI.DEAS for Impact competition was organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s ICT Industry Development Bureau, in partnership with the Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines. The event promotes ethical and inclusive innovation by challenging students to create AI solutions addressing real-world social and technological issues.
