USC STUDENT WINS ESTILO DE VIDA GRAND PRIZE
A STUDENT from the University of San Carlos won the grand prize at the 21st Estilo de Vida Inter-School Interior Design Competition, organized by the Philippine Constructors Association.
Chiara Donatella Elizaga, a third-year interior design major, emerged as the top contender among 200 entries with her innovative project, “Case Berde.”
Described as a “sanctuary of comfort,” the project aims to recreate the warmth of a friend’s home by integrating natural elements and personalized touches that foster well-being and companionship.
Elizaga’s victory earned her a P150,000 cash prize and recognition at Philconstruct Manila 2024. Her mentor, Dr. Hermie Ray Oplado, was also awarded P50,000 for his guidance throughout the competition.
This year’s competition revolved around the theme, “Embracing Memories, Embracing Lives: A Sanctuary for Seniors,” challenging participants to conceptualize a dementia day care facility.
The designs were intended to support seniors with mild to moderate dementia, incorporating Augmented Reality technology to enhance engagement and empowerment.
The Estilo de Vida competition is among the Philippines’ largest interior design contests, offering young designers a platform to showcase their creativity and sharpen their skills before industry leaders.
