PSC, GAB URGED TO EXTEND SUPPORT TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS
SENATOR Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go has called on the Philippine Sports Commission and the Games and Amusement Board to extend support to private schools nationwide.
Go made the appeal as he expressed his backing for the proposed 2025 budgets of the two agencies.
“As the chairman of the Committee on Sports, I am more than willing to defend and support your budget, provided that you, in turn, support our athletes,” Go said.
“Not just through financial aid, but also in terms of equipment, food, and, of course, moral and mental support, which are crucial to keeping our athletes focused on their training,” he added.
The senator emphasized that investing in sports would help the country cultivate world-class athletes who can bring honor and pride to the Philippines.
“Apart from that, sports can also keep our youth away from illegal and harmful vices. As they say, get into sports, stay away from drugs to stay healthy and fit. It’s been proven that when we are physically fit, we also keep mental problems at bay,” Go concluded.
