/ 4 February 2023

POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines President Manuel Muhi received the Golden Wheel Award during the Annual Rotary Awards Ceremony organized by the Rotary Club of Cubao West along with Imagine Rotary and the Quezon City government.

Muhi was recognized for the Pamantasang Bayan-Education on Wheels, his flagship extension program which aims to deliver the brand of PUP quality education to the doorstep of every Filipino family.

EOW prioritizes out-of-school youth in depressed urban and rural communities.

“60 young and adult learners joined the EOW pilot run last August. Classes are divided between day and night to accommodate single parents and working students,” PUP said in a statement.

Muhi thanked the Rotary Club for the award.

“This kind of recognition emphasizes our significant role as educators in our country,” he said.

Muhi also spearheaded the Salin-Kaalaman Program, another priority extension program of the PUP System which provides short courses, seminars, and trainings to nearby communities.

Capacity programs include livelihood, education and training, leadership, and community management.

“Together with the whole PUP community, I am more than motivated and committed to continuing the programs we have begun and encouraging everyone to join us these initiatives,” Muhi said.
