DEPED FINALIZES TEST BROADCAST OF TV SHOWS FOR DISTANCE LEARNING
THE DEPARTMENT of Education is conducting its final test broadcast to be used in the educational shows for distance learning.
The final test will be aired on IBC-13 and other partner networks from September 21-25 to test all technical matters and evaluate the final contents, themes, designs, templates, and other aspects to ensure the success of DepEd TV.
Department Undersecretary Alain Pascua said DepEd has been in coordination with different networks to be used for DepEd TV for the school year 2020-2021. He hopes a formal signing of agreement can be reached next week.
“We are now finalizing our partnerships with Cignal, GSAT, Sky Cable, Gracia Telecoms and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Streamtech and Planet Cable, Solar, Mabuhay Pilipinas, the Philippine cable and Telecommunications Association, and GMA7. We hope to have the signing of agreements by next week,” Pascua said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Information and Communications Technology Service Director Abram Abanil said that the target is to be able to produce 130 episodes per week by the time classes open on October 5. The episodes will only cover major subject areas under the most essential learning competencies.
Pascua also said DepEd TV will help reach more learners to achieve quality education despite the struggles on internet connection and distance learning.
“We are potentially looking at the future of education here. Apart from online learning, which we are pursuing through DepEd Commons, television and radio continue to be very effective channels for instruction and education, hence the DepEd TV and DepEd Radio,” Pascua added.
