DLSU STUDENTS BAG AWARDS IN 2022 SINGAPORE MODEL UNITED NATIONS
A TEAM from the De La Salle University won in the 2022 Singapore Model United Nations held at the National University of Singapore earlier this month.

The DLSU delegation received 12 awards.
Jason Hugh Uy won the Best Delegate for Human Rights Council after representing Qatar, while Josue Venida was named Outstanding Delegate for Human Rights Council after representing Sudan.
Johannes Asombrado, on the other hand, was recognized as Best Speaker for UN Security Council after representing Ghana.
The team garnered four Best Position Paper awards including Asombrado and Xybastian Trinidad, (UN Security Council, representing Ghana); Sophia Valencia (Human Rights Council, representing South Korea), Izak Tiong (World Health Assembly, representing Egypt), and Nika Ela Necessario and Elijah Ferry-Munoz (ASEAN+3, representing Indonesia).
Verbal Commendation for Outstanding Simulation honors were given to Matthew Ramirez (Community of Latin America & Caribbean States), Angelica Perez (House of Commons, representing Michael Gove), Julean Palpallatoc (UN Security Council, representing Albania), Johannes Asombrado & Xybastian Trinidad (UN Security Council, representing Ghana), and Arrabela Lumanglas (World Bank, representing China).
The other members of the team include Angelique Coordes, Laurice Eleda, Misha Lirios, Alvaro Ramirez De Arellano, Aena Medina, Yedda Bueno, and Bianca Yap.
The students were mentored by political science faculty members Allen Surla as the adviser of the Model United Nations Teams while Theodore Alberto, Jose Peregrine Argana, and Hyacinth Flores as team’s trainers.
Meanwhile, Hannah Marie Antoinette de Peralta, Erika Elaine Arcega, and Benedict Rafael Mateo conducted nightly evaluation with the delegates.
Now in its 19th year, Singapore MUN held the first face-to-face student conference since the pandemic. The event was participated in by students from the Southeast Asian region.
The delegates were tested for their skills in diplomacy, negotiation, leadership, impromptu speech, drafting of resolutions and other problem-solving skills.
