CEBU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY MOVES OPENING OF CLASSES

/ 30 January 2022

THE CEBU Institute of Technology-University moved the opening of classes from February 2 to February 7 owing to the damage wrought by Typhoon Odette.

The university said electricity and internet connection remain unstable in the aftermath of the typhoon.

“In consideration of the non-restoration of or unstable internet connectivity in most parts of Cebu and its nearby provinces, CIT University moves the resumption of classes for the senior high school and college levels from February 2, 2022, to February 7, 2022,” the school said.

“Moreover, the first two weeks of classes will be fully-asynchronous, which means downloadable course materials will be made available for students instead of conducting synchronous online classes,” it added.

Teachers are reminded to use easier and accessible platforms to communicate with the students in addition to Microsoft Teams.

Meanwhile, the deadlines for submission of outputs during the two weeks of asynchronous sessions shall not be earlier than the third week from the start of classes.

As of January 27, the Visayan Electric Company had restored power supply to 87.27 percent or 413,841 of its 474,182 customers in Metro Cebu.

However, the company still needs to restore electricity to 60,341 customers which comprise 12.72 percent of the total number of its affected consumers.
