COMELEC SPOKESMAN APPEALS FOR EXPOSURE FOR NON-FAMOUS CANDIDATES
COMMISSION on Elections Spokesman James Jimenez appealed to media outlets to give non-famous candidates airtime and exposure.
COMMISSION on Elections Spokesman James Jimenez appealed to media outlets to give non-famous candidates airtime and exposure.
In an interview with ANC, Jimenez said that media outlets should interview everyone and not only those who are headline makers.
Jimenez said that out of the 10 presidential candidates, only 5 are getting media exposure.
The spokesman added ”an effort should be made to interview everyone who is running.”
“They are not interviewing everyone. They are only interviewing the famous ones…the people who are already in the news,” Jimenez said.
“If the purpose is to really educate the people rather than for… ratings…there is an imbalance,” he added.
Media giants GMA Network and ABS-CBN drew flak over the past few days after labor leader Ka Leody De Guzman was snubbed by the networks on their presidential interviews.
The poll body will host presidential and vice presidential debates in the coming months.
