MOST local government units are ready to start vaccinating minors and the general population, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said.
“Dahil kasi nakikita natin na karamihan na ng willing na mga vaccinees ay nakuha na ng mga cities,” Galvez said, adding that the 30 areas nationwide are close to inoculating 100% percent of their target population.
Galvez earlier said that the vaccination of minors with comorbidities will be piloted in five hospitals in Metro Manila in October.
The Covid19 vaccines will be administered at the National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine General Hospital, and two other hospitals in the capital region.
The inoculation will be done in phases and those aged 15 to 17 with health risks and those who are living with healthcare workers will get jabs first.
San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said his city is saving its Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to allot them for children once the pilot run rolls out.
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro, on the other hand, said Metro Manila mayors have asked the government to provide them with the inventory of vaccines that will be administered to minors so they can prepare their resources.
Teodoro said they also requested the deployment of more pediatricians, social workers to ensure the safety of children.
