COTABATO CITY STATE POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE NOW A STATE UNIVERSITY
MINISTER Mohagher Iqbal of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education on Friday commended the Cotabato City State Polytechnic College for transforming into a state university.
The passage of Republic Act 10585 converted the Cotabato City State Polytechnic College into Cotabato State University.
“Congratulations to the Cotobato State University, led by its first President, Prof. Sema G. Dilna, EdD, for the singular honor of receiving university status,” Iqbal said.
“Gaining the university status is not only a matter of prestige for the ones who made this possible. Rather, it is more of a dream unleashed for decades,” he added.
Iqbal stressed that CSU’s university status opens a window of hope for residents of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
“Many have been deprived of higher education in the region caused by lack of financial resources, armed conflict and other similar reasons. As a challenge to our University President, be a visionary leader who will lead this university to the shore of providing morally capable and knowledgeable professionals,” he said.
To support the university, Iqbal said the MBHTE has started the procurement process for the P39-million dormitory for the university.
“Additionally, the MBHTE has already awarded scholarships to deserving students who have enrolled in the university for School Year 2020-2021 under the ministry’s flagship program of Access to Higher and Modern Education-Scholarship Program,” he said.
