DEPED TV MILESTONES ON SPOTLIGHT
THE DEPARTMENT of Education reported the milestones achieved by DepEd TV, the agency’s main television-based instruction initiative, during the virtual In-Service Training Day 1 on Monday.
Since its launch, DepEd TV had produced 1,981 episodes from the 1st quarter to the 3rd quarter of the current school year.
DepEd–ICT Service Director Abram Abanil said the department continues to ramp up the production of episodes to cover all of the learning competencies in each subject on the basic education curriculum.
“We have been producing around 130 episodes per week para ma-air natin sa television itong mga episodes na ito at matuto ang kabataan even if they don’t have face-to-face classes. Tinutuloy namin iyan,” Abanil said.
The DepEd TV team reported various milestones, including the turnover of broadcaster training program and design that can be used by Schools Division Offices that intend to have their localized DepEd TV program; training of 200 teacher-broadcasters and production of 640 fully edited, mastered, and formatted broadcast-ready TV lessons, and turnover of 25 audio video lessons by broadcast veterans and complete operations manual for broadcast TV.
These efforts were recently recognized by the Mobiles of Education Alliance, which cited the department as one of the Policymaker EdTech Champions.
DepEd TV was one of the honorable mentions under the Crisis and Conflict Response category.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian lauded the DepEd TV production.
“I have to commend DepEd. That is a very good high-quality material, ang ganda ng material. It’s not made out of the backyard. It is really world class,” the chairman of the Committee on Basic Education said.
DepEd TV airs in 15 TV, radio, and cable operators throughout the country. It is also available on DepEd’s Facebook pages and DepEd TV–Official channel on YouTube.
