MARINDUQUE STATE COLLEGE PRODUCES ALCOHOL FOR FRONTLINERS
THE MARINDUQUE State College said that it has produced 95 percent bio-ethanol alcohol from coconut sap and palm sap for frontliners.
The school used the distiller donated by the Mariano Marcos State University for the project that was funded by the Commission on Higher Education.
“From the lab to the frontline, Marinduque State College’s School of Agriculture once again proves that science has its practical socio-economic benefits as it starts producing bio-ethanol (95% alcohol) from locally sourced coconut sap (“tuba”) and nipa (or mangrove) palm sap using the newly installed distiller,” MSC said on Facebook.
“…the project aims to provide natural alcohol extracted from local sources for free to Marinduque’s frontliners including Barangay Health Emergency Response teams, PNP, CAFGU volunteers, medical professionals, vulnerable groups, and MSC employees,” it added.
The sap was locally sourced from farmers in Maligaya and Caganhao in Boac, and Yook and Bicas Bicas in Buenavista, Marinduque.
The school said that it aims to produce more than 1,690 liters of alcohol to help curb the spread of Covid19 in the province.
