On the inauguration day of new US President Joe Biden, over all the glitz and glamor and the significance of the historical event, one of the main things the Internet latched on to was Bernie Sanders’ outfit, and one photo of him sitting down that has quickly reached viral status on social media. A week since the fated day, and nearly everyone has gone in to do their own take of the iconic meme, with hilarious snaps of the respected Senator in classic pop culture scenes, restaurant promos, and so much more.

It’s not entirely surprising to see the Internet go crazy on lighthearted moments like this during inauguration day, with Michelle Obama’s outfit and Lady Gaga’s performance being some of the other things that caught social media’s attention.

 

However, the Bernie Sanders meme has reached a different level of virality with marketing campaigns, handcrafted toys, and charity drives jumping in on the trend to join the fun.

In fact, Sanders himself has released special meme-inspired sweatshirts for charity, garnering a total of $1.8 million in a couple of days. The funds would then be distributed to several charities in his home state of Vermont.

But, of course, the whole spirit of the meme is just lighthearted fun after the chaos that happened leading up to Biden’s inauguration. Needless to say, it’s a good reminder that happy days are ahead, and a new beginning has dawned in America, and the rest of the world.
