At the start of the community quarantine, the Full House Theater Company production of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” was released for public streaming on May 8-9 to the delight not just of theater fans but of the general viewing public. As it was made available even on a limited time, on a huge platform as YouTube and Facebook, it seemed like the whole country watched and listened to the three-hour musical film collecting a combined viewership of over 7 million. Throughout the entire weekend, the play was a trending topic, with no small thanks to the compelling use of the Eraserheads library of top songs in their heydays.

AHEB followed the story of three friends who went separate ways after graduating in college. Bridging the long absence from each others’ lives is a tragic event that brought the friends back, unexpectedly forcing them to repair unsolved wounds. The theater production, after its successful runs at the Resorts World Manila, captured not just major feels but a cultural portrait that still echoes to this day.

The show itself definitely brought the local theater scene to light. Not only that, the initiative, in partnership with the ABS-CBN Foundation, successfully raised over P12M for Pantawid ng Pag-ibig, in an effort to help Filipinos greatly affected by the government-imposed quarantine that stopped livelihoods, along with frontliners fighting the fight in the pandemic.

On November 28-29, you can watch and rewatch the musical on pay-per-view on KTX.ph for P600. There will be two versions of the show available online, with cast members varying between the Red Team (Tanya Manalang, Reb Atadero, Vic Robinson, and Lance Reblando), and Blue team (Gab Pangilinan, Bibo Reyes, Boo Gabunada and Phi Palmos—the YouTube version, previously streamed last May). If you are one of the few ones who didn’t manage to catch the production in all its well-buzzed story during its run or on its limited streaming last May, or you just want to watch the production over and over again, mark your calendar!
