TIME FOR A ROOM MAKEOVER THAT SCREAMS ‘FILIPINA GIRL POWER’ WITH THESE CREATORS AND ART SHOPS
International Women's Month might be over, but advocating for women empowerment and beauty spans beyond a mere 30-day mark. Check out these online creators and art shops that could get you on your way to celebrating the modern Filipino woman all year 'round.
They say that one’s living space is a huge telltale sign of who that person is, what she believes in, and what she’s passionate about. Likewise, many people also believe that a person’s immediate vicinity impacts their general mood, behavior, and energy. The bottomline for both these statements is that personal space is important, to say the very least. So it’s equally as important to make sure it looks a certain way that reflects who we are, while effectively inspiring us.
Art is arguably one of the most effective ways to achieve this, with its aesthetically-pleasing visuals and subtle (or not-so-subtle) messaging. For causes such as women empowerment, and the general pride of being a Filipino woman, several local creators and art shops have shared uniquely creative works that reflect, celebrate, and showcase the beauty of modern feminism.
These Instagram accounts are just a few of our favorites:
SLOWFOLKS (@slowfolks.ph)
Slowfolks’ pieces mainly depicts the “art of living slow,” with yoga, meditation and other images of serenity obviously acting as huge points of inspiration across its portfolio. A strong theme among the creator’s works is the image of naked women. Not scandalous or hyper-sexualized, but beautiful illustrations of a woman’s body, flabs and all.

Ross Du is another Filipina illustrator who impressively reimagines local traditional wear into modern and cute little ensembles through her works—and honestly, we can’t get enough of these Filipinianas worn around the house as pambahay. Du occasionally announces art drops on top of her commission openings and collaborations, but her Instagram page is always updated with her latest work.
