The 26-year-old Obiena, of Tondo, Manila, claimed a historic bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships by setting a new Asian record and again brought honor and pride to the Philippines.
Norwegian and world no.11 Sondre Guttormsen also cleared 5.73m although he just placed second as he leaped the bar in just one attempt.
Meanwhile, reigning Olympic champion and world record holder Armand Duplantis of Sweden struck gold after setting a new meet record of 6.10m.
