LETRAN and Mapua pulled off contrasting wins on Monday to keep perfect win-loss slates in the NCAA juniors basketball tournament at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym.

Andy Gemao stood tallest for Letran’s victory as he dropped 17 of his 26 points in the first half that allowed the Squires to walk away with a 116-82 lopsided win over host Emilio Aguinaldo College.

On the other hand, Lance Masiglat had a double-double outing of 17 points and 13 rebounds to power the Red Robins to a 75-66 conquest of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

It was the third straight victory in as many games for Letran and Mapua after three days of intense junior basketball competition.

A Batang Gilas mainstay, Gemao also grabbed eight rebounds and had +23 efficiency in just 15 minutes of action for the Squires.

Nicko Lorenzo and John Lopez combined for 37 points while Andrei Dungo (19 points, 16 rebounds) and Chris Hubilla (15 points, 13 boards) turned in double-double numbers as titleholder San Beda regained its winning form with a 93-81 romp of San Sebastian.

The Squires have won an average of 30 points in the last two games, including last Friday’s 94-68 dismantling of the Red Cubs.

George Diamante had 16 points and nine rebounds, Daniel Padilla came through with 13 points, five assists, and two steals while Basti Reyes was the other Letran player in double-digits with 12 points.

The Red Robins, who also got 12 points from Joaquin Coronel, held the Junior Altas to six points in the payoff period to prevail.

San Beda moved in a tie with Perpetual and Jose Rizal University at 2-1.

The Staglets dropped to 1-2 while the Brigadiers suffered their third consecutive double-digit defeat.
