MANILA — De La Salle University uncorked a searing second-quarter run and never looked back en route to an 87-70 rout of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 85 men’s basketball on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

All the Green Archers needed was a telling 32-15 run in the first half to put the game away from the Tamaraws.

That blast allowed the Green Archers, who lost last time out to the University of the East Red Warriors, to take the half with a 25-point lead (50-25).

The unassailable lead allowed La Salle to take control of the game for the rest of the way.

With the win, La Salle improved to a 3-2 win-loss card, good for fourth in the standings.

The Tamaraws, on the other hand, absorbed their fifth straight loss in as many games, its worst start so far in the Final Four era which was first implemented way back in 1993, or 29 years ago.
