NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SPORTS WELCOMES 52 STUDENT-ATHLETES
About 52 students are currently enrolled for School Year 2021-2022 in the National Academy of Sports.
NAS Deputy Executive Director Emil Arroyo said that there were 65 qualified student-athlete scholars and urged the remaining 13 13 students to pursue their specialized sports education with NAS.
Sports science, support services, and academics are the three major divisions of the newly constituted attached agency of the Department of Education (DepEd), which will serve as the foundation for developing relevant programs for the school.
During the present Covid19 pandemic, Arroyo stated the students will be taught by eight teachers from DepEd Region 3 via remote learning modes.
“The modality for learning this school year will primarily be online remote learning, but this will be supplemented with digitized modules. We will also be conducting both synchronous and asynchronous classes, as well as sports training for our pioneering batch,” he explained.
NAS Executive Director Josephine Joy Reyes emphasized that appropriate orientations are being conducted for students and their parents.
“This week, we will be having a series of orientations [for our stakeholders], that will also be represented by other divisions. We will give them relevant information regarding our programs on sports science, support services, and academics,” she said.
