LPU’S KIM CINCO BAGS GOLD MEDAL IN NCAA BASKETBALL SKILLS SHOWDOWN
Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) Pirates’ Kim Cinco was hailed as the champion of the Basketball Skills Showdown: All-Star of NCAA Season 96.
The final four were battled by San Beda University, Arellano University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and LPU in which Letran Knights’ Mark Cruz battled against Arellano’s Bimbot Anquilo.
Cruz was hailed as the winner with 37.93 secs as Anquilo had a hard time in passing, lay-up, and three-points course.
While Cruz first faced Red Lions’ Radge Tongco, reminiscing the finals back in Season 93 and 94, but this time the Intramuros-based squad won with 22.61 seconds and Tongco was late in his three-point shot.
The final showdown came and LPU’s former guard Cinco was the first one to finish the relay, burying the three-pointer shot with 25.25 secs on the time and while Cruz finished at 26.59 secs.
“Masarap sa pakiramdam kasi si Ant-Man [Mark Cruz], idol ko talaga. Isang karangalan na makalaban at matalo si Ant-Man,” said Cinco.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa LPU community, suporta lang kayo palagi sa Basketball, sa lahat ng sports, [at] sa LPU. Maraming maraming salamat at nandyan kayo palagi.”
The Basketball Skills showdown was participated by nine of the 10 member-schools—Kendrix Belgica of St. Benilde, Ian Valdez of San Sebastian, Gerald Dizon of Perpetual, Justin Padua of Jose Rizal University, and Jethro Mendoza of Emilio Aguinaldo College.
