The Varsitarian, UST’s official student publication, shared the said development on Monday.

The UAAP Season 82 MVP, Chabi Yo decided to forgo his final year in UST and is reported to play for a fourth-tier squad in Spain.

Even though the  Beninese center played for one season only, Chabi Yo established his dominance by leading the España-based squad to the championships against reigning champions Ateneo.

Also, with his first and last season with UST before the COVID-19 pandemic, Chabi averaged 17.4 points and 14.3 rebounds per game, with 1.4 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 0.7 steals.

However, the 25-year-old, Chabi shared with disappointment that the pandemic forced him to change plans and leave UST.

“My plan was to finish my playing years in UST before leaving, but since Covid came, that destroyed all the plans,” he told The Varsitarian.

He added: “I hope you guys will understand me. Thank you all and thanks to the UST community for the love and support. I wish all the best to the team and also good luck on the upcoming season.”

Meanwhile, the UAAP is eyeing February 2022 for its return to the scene.
