17 December 2025

BANGKOK — The Philippines continued to add to its gold medal haul in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games as Zyra Bon-as emerged victorious in the final of the women’s 48kg low kick event against home bet Jantakarn Manoban of Thailand, 2-1, at the John Paul II Sports Center in Assumption University on Tuesday.

Bon-as added the country’s 27th gold medal overall after ekeing out the close victory. It was also the country’s second gold of Day 7 of the biennial meet.

Before competing in the gold-medal match, she also defeated Vietnam’s Bui Thi Yen in the semifinals with the same score, 2-1.

This is kickboxing’s first gold in the SEA Games in Thailand. Whinny Bayawon, who competed in the men’s light kick 57kg final, got the silver.

Earlier in the day, rowing provided the other gold medal for Team Philippines with rowers Joanie Delgaco and Krisitne Paraon ruling the women’s double sculls event in Chonburi.
