FILIPINO gymnastics star Carlos Yulo secured spots in the vault and floor exercise finals at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Competing in the first day of the two-day men’s qualification on Sunday, Yulo topped the vault with a score of 14.750 points. He also placed second in the floor exercise, earning 14.566 points, just behind British gymnast Jake Jarman, who scored 14.700.

The top eight gymnasts in each apparatus qualification will move on to the finals scheduled for Friday (Oct. 24) and Saturday (Oct. 25). Meanwhile, the top 24 all-around competitors will advance to the championship round on Wednesday (Oct. 22).

Qualifications are still underway, with two more subdivisions yet to perform.
