UST BOOKS SEMIS SLOT AFTER TOPPLING FEU IN V-LEAGUE
THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas clinched the second semifinal berth in the 2025 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge after overpowering Far Eastern University (FEU), 19-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-17, on Saturday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Al-Bukharie Sali led the Golden Spikers’ comeback with 29 points built on 26 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, lifting UST to a 5-1 record. He got solid support from JJ Macam (13) and GBoy De Vega (12).
“The difference in the second set was they played as a team. That’s what’s important,” UST assistant coach Benjamin Mape said after the 1-hour, 51-minute match.
UST will next meet unbeaten De La Salle University (5-0), the first team to enter the semis, on Oct. 1 after the break for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship.
For FEU, Dryx Saavedra and Amet Samuel Bituin tallied 13 points each, while Mikko Espartero added 10 points and 11 receptions. The Tamaraws, now at 2-4, will try to rebound against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (1-4) on Sunday.
