SAN BEDA DOMINATES NCAA JUNIORS SPEED KICKING TOURNAMENT

San Beda University ruled the online taekwondo speed kicking event of the NCAA Season 96 juniors' division, bagging three gold medals on Monday.

Louell Ivannerich Mamaclay topped the light-middleweight division with 6.500 points to beat Emilio Aguinaldo College’s (EAC) John Cris Samson (6.458) and Javier Macasaet of College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills (6.383).

For the lightweight division, Philip Joshua Lee took care of his assignment as he emerged on top with a score of 7.083 points over EAC’s duo Leigh Cyril Aslarona and Aubrey Gacilos, tallying 6.108 points and 5.942 points respectively.

The gold rush continued for the Taytay-based jins as Ignatius Vicente Lorenzo Pinera topped the bantamweight division scoring 6.750 points to edge Lyceum of the Philippines University’s Dirk Ranque (6.483) and Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Lebron James Alemania (6.200).

Flyweight Reymundo Calamba III and heavyweight Jian Alden Jose Arceo nabbed a pair of silver medals, while Seth Nathaniel Go (welterweight) and Marlex Mercado (featherweight) copped bronze medals.

The Red Jins tallied a 3-2-2 medal haul at the end of the four-day meet to clinch the top spot of the podium, followed by CSB on the second with two gold medals and a bronze.

The men’s division of the seniors’ speed kicking competition will begin on Tuesday and will run until June 29, while the women’s division will run from June 30 to July 5.
