Kiefer Ravena expects big things from veteran-rookie Mike Ayonayon as the team suffers the loss of Fonacier and Baguio as NLEX heads for the PBA season restart at Clark, Pampanga.

“We expect big things from him (Ayonayon), especially with the absence of Larry and Cyrus. They’re playing the same position and he’s getting a lot of playing time,” said Ravena on 2OT.

According to Ravena the 6-foot guard must have a steady presence for the team in the upcoming bubble tourney.

“He is not a rookie to be honest. He’s older than me. Matanda pa sa akin si Mike. We expect big things from him,” Ravena added.

Head Coach Yeng Quiao also agreed saying Mike Ayonayon is one of the players to watch out for this approaching season.

With Fonacier decided not to play in the 3-month tourney due to personal reasons while Baguio opted out due to family matters, Ravena has third overall pick Ayonayon in mind to share his load.

Ayonayon blossomed in the championship series of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup against the San Juan Knights that earned him a ticket to the PBA.

The gunner made a mark as he took over the do-or-die match of the best-of-five series in the game five with an outstanding performance wherein he tallied 33 points grabbing the championship title from The Knights.

As the season is fast approaching, we can expect these two to put out all the stops en route for the championship.
