PUREFOODS RULES OVER PBA 3X3 LEG 4; OVERPOWERS MERALCO
Purefoods bagged the championship title for leg 4 of the PBA 3×3, outlasting the defending champion Meralco yesterday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, 21-16.
Purefoods finally made it to the finals after finishing third in the first leg and fourth in the third.
“I’m just happy for the boys. Yung hard work nila na-reward this time sa fourth leg (ng 3×3),” said rookie head coach Tony Boy Espinosa.
“Hopefully, ma-sustain namin yung energy na binibigay namin every game.”
The Tj Titans were able to grab the trophy with Pao Javelona’s 10 points contribution, followed by Joseph Eriobu of five and three points each from Jed Mendoza and Bonsubre.
This feat for the Purefoods teams is a dream come true for bagging its first major crown, but for the Bolts, on the other hand, is a letdown for not getting a title repeat after winning the first leg.
Purefoods bagged Php 100,000 for winning leg 4, while the Bolts took home Php 50,000.
The Scores:
Purefoods 21 – Javelona 10, Eriobu 5, Mendoza 3, Bonsubre 3.
Meralco 16 – Gonzaga 5, Batino 5, Sedurifa 5, Maiquez 1.
