PSC TO GIVE PARA ATHLETES ADDITIONAL TRAVEL ALLOWANCE
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will give additional travel allowance to para-athletes who will be competing in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympics.
PSC said that each of the athletes and accompanying officials will be receiving a P100,000 additional allowance.
PSC Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez had also urged Chef de Mission Francis Diaz to push his colleagues at the University of the Philippines to intellectually and psychologically prepare the athletes.
According to Ramirez, it was a proven formula for the Philippine team’s success at the recent Tokyo Olympics, where four Filipinos were on the podium.
“If you’re enjoying the game, your game becomes better as well,” Ramirez said of the para-athletes.
Ramirez furthered that the additional allowance was because of the high cost of living in Japan.
“The PSC also added travel allowances to our athletes in the Olympics because of the high cost of living in Japan,” said Ramirez.
Completing the six-person delegation are discus thrower Jeanette Aceveda, swimmer Gary Bejino, taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin, and powerlifter Achelle Guion.
