PNVF TO PUSH THROUGH WITH CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOR MEN’S VOLLEY ON SEPTEMBER

The Philippine National Federation (PVNF) announced that the league is all set for the Champions League for men in September where eight teams will participate.

The PNVF through the Champions League aims to strengthen and sustain the Philippine national team program, alternatively, under this pandemic, and to bridge a way for men’s volleyball to reinstate in the local sports scene.

“It is also one of the PNVF’s 10-point agendas which is to serve Filipino families with entertainment through volleyball and to make volleyball a widely played sport by elevating it through high-performance competition,” PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara expressed in a virtual meeting.

Representatives of Metro Manila clubs Cignal HD, Go for Gold-Air Force, Navy, Instituto Estetico Manila, and PLDT, as well as one team from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were invited to the meeting and talked over the progress of the awaited event.

PNVF Champions League for men will take place from September 19-26 with Ilocos Norte’s Centennial Arena in Laoag City or Pampanga’s Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando eyeing as prospect ground for competition.

As the tournament will be held for one week or seven days, the eight teams will play 24 matches over the duration. 

The tournament will divide the teams into four groups to undergo in a single round-robin arrangement. and then will be bracketed for the quarterfinals.

Under the eight participating clubs, teams have until September 1 to send a list of their 20-player lineups.
