PH’S JAMIE LIM FAILS TO SECURE BRONZE MEDAL MATCH SPOT IN KARATE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Jamie Lim failed to secure a medal in her debut campaign in the World Karate Championships after her loss during the first match in the repechage.
The Filipina 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist was outshined by Lynn Snel of the Netherlands in the game bracket of the women’s -61kg kumite on November 18, Thursday afternoon at the Hamdan Sports Complex.
Snel advanced to the bronze medal match after her victory in the 1-1 draw against Lim. The Dutch karateka will be facing Haya Jumaa of Canada in the match.
Despite the defeat, Lim was satisfied in her maiden stint in the World Karate Championships where she made it to the quarterfinals of the tourney on Wednesday, however, she was outplayed by Ukraine’s Anita Serogina, a former European champion and a Tokyo Olympian, in the quarterfinals.
After SEA Games medalist Junna Tsukii’s early exit and Lim’s defeat, Team Philippines still have remaining competitors with Joco Vasquez and Sarah Pangilinan.
