PH DOTA2 BETS FALL SHORT IN KYIV MAJOR
MANILA - Filipino professional Dota2 players fell short in securing the trophy of the recently concluded 'WePlay AniMajor' in Kyiv, Ukraine.
This came after Filipino mid-lane prodigy Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop and North America’s (NA) top dogs, ‘Evil Geniuses (EG),’ met a crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of China’s PSG. LGD on the Grand Finals of the tournament.
EG secured a grand finals slot after a grueling lower bracket runs facing off teams from South America, Europe, China, and eventually facing off against Filipino-stacks and Southeast Asia’s top seeds ‘TNC Predator’ and ‘T1.’
The NA squad proved to be a force to be reckoned with, only falling short against PSG.LGD’s well-executed team fights and lane-dominating drafts in all three games.
Filipino stack ‘Execration’, on the other hand, failed to enter the group stage and got eliminated at the Wildcard of the tournament. The tournament ran from June 2 to 13, 2021.
Meanwhile, at least three Filipinos are assured of an appearance at the ‘The International 10,’ namely EG.Abed; T1 Captain Carlo ‘Ku’ Palad, and Midlane Karl Matthew ‘Karl’ Baldovino.
Other Filipino pros need to battle it out at the Regional Qualifiers of the $40 million tournaments which will be from June 30 to July 3, 2021.
